Michael Hiltzik’s Cruel Attack on Kelly Ernby – Orange County Register

On January 10, Los Angeles Times business columnist Michael Hiltzik wrote the most sinister column I have ever seen, titled, “The COVID death of anti-vaxxers is a miracle odd, yes – but possibly necessary.”

The column’s URL reads “why shouldn’t we-jump-on-the-grave-of-anti-vaxxers.”

In the column, Hiltzik gratuitously attacked Republican activist and Orange County Deputy District Attorney Kelly Ernby, who died of the illness on Jan. 4. Although I’ve seen her a few times, I do not know her. Because in all respects as a wonderful colleague, wife and mother, she does not deserve these and other attacks on the nation.

This is part of a trend we’ve seen recently of some extremists in the vaccination-mandatory crowd who say they’re just trying to save lives, smearing the lives that are actually lost to those in need. with COVID of people with whom they disagree. They even admit, using Hiltzik’s parlance, but without his lame definitions, such character assassination because of a policy disagreement is “spooky, right” and “necessary” .”

Hiltzik is not a scientist or a medical doctor. The Times should first submit such efforts on science for review by its owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong, a world-renowned surgeon.

Hiltzik wrote Ernby “intentionally giving sober medical advice by rejecting a vaccine known to reduce the risk of serious illness from the virus, including the risk to others”. And, “Obviously, [vaccine] Authority exists because these diseases not only threaten the infected person themselves, but also the community, meaning anyone they come into contact with”.

But on August 5, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky took to CNN and told Wolf Blitzer, “Our vaccines are working very well. They continue to work well with delta associated with severe illness and death. They prevent it. But what they can’t do anymore is stop the transmission.” Scoreboard is online. Quote at 18:05:00.

Hiltzik clearly didn’t follow the science of COVID transmission, which is more complicated than people like Hiltzik like to admit.

Hiltzik wasn’t pleased Ernby’s claims may have convinced some people not to get vaccinated, which is also said to have resulted in death and overwhelmed hospitals. “First, we must acknowledge that the enemies that need to be quelled are the misinformation, lies and stupidity brought into the fight against COVID,” he wrote.

But this is America. We discuss everything during the opening. Everything. No censorship. If he wants a culprit, Hiltzik should look in the mirror. Probably more people would get vaxx if it wasn’t authorized and if we could discuss it freely.

When many Americans hear “trust” and “don’t talk about it,” they automatically think they are being vilified, especially if it comes from the government. That’s because the government is not objective about science or anything else. It also has no authority, as witnessed by the California Department of Employment Development and DMV, or last year’s debacle in Afghanistan.

“It should be clear that opposing the mandate of vaccines as a substitute for opposing vaccination is a fundamentally incoherent position,” countered Hiltzik. “It’s a bit more of a small-government republican ideology in the garden. That’s what it was in Ernby’s hands. ”
