Elon Musk deletes tweet comparing Canada’s Justin Trudeau to Adolf Hitler – Orange County Register

Elon Musk has deleted a controversial tweet that made a satirical comparison between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Adolf Hitler.
Musk, chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. and the richest person in the world, did not respond to a request for comment. A Twitter spokesperson said the social media company “did not take coercive action” on the tweet.
Musk, 50, responded to a post by crypto trade publication CoinDesk about Trudeau’s emergency order to cut money for protesters who blocked border crossings and camped out in Canada’s capital. . Musk tweeted a photo of Hitler with the words “Stop comparing me to Justin Trudeau” at the top and “I’ve got a budget” at the bottom.
The tweet generated a backlash from groups like the American Jewish Committee, an advocacy group, calling on Musk to apologize for mentioning the dictator who oversaw the genocide of millions.
“Once again, Elon Musk exercised extremely poor judgment by calling on Hitler to make a point on social media,” the group said in an earlier statement on Thursday. “He must stop this unacceptable behavior.”
Controversy comes as Tesla has to face complaints about racism and harassment. California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing last week sued Tesla for racial discrimination and harassment after uncovering a widespread form of abuse of Black workers at an electric car factory. near San Francisco.
Musk rarely deletes tweets, but it’s not unheard of for him. He deleted a tweet nearly a year ago that said he believes Tesla could be on track to become the biggest company in America.
