Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer will not face criminal charges from sexual assault allegations – Orange County Register

Dodgers right-hand man Trevor Bauer will not face criminal charges related to sexual assault allegations against him, according to multiple reports.

TMZ Sports was the first to report the decision of the Los Angeles district attorney’s office. Pasadena police concluded their investigation in August and forwarded the results of the investigation to the district attorney at that time.

Major League Baseball’s investigation into allegations made by a San Diego woman in connection with sexual encounters at Bauer’s home in Pasadena last April and May remains open. Bauer still faces potential disciplinary action by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred for violating the general domestic violence policy adopted with the players’ union in 2015.

“MLB’s investigation is ongoing and we will comment further as appropriate,” MLB said in a statement responding to the reports Tuesday.

The Dodgers declined to comment on Bauer’s situation, citing the MLB’s open investigation. They continued that stance with a statement responding to Tuesday’s decision. “MLB is continuing their investigation. We will have no further comment until this is over,” the Dodgers said in a statement.

Any conclusions by the MLB may not be reached until the ongoing lockdown is over and Bauer meets with commissioner investigators.

30-year-old Bauer signed a three-year, $102 million deal with the Dodgers a year ago. He had only made 17 starts with the team before sexual assault allegations came to light in early July. Bauer spent the rest of the season on administrative leave, continuing to withdraw wages from the Dodgers.

Any potential MLB discipline is independent of criminal charges and Bauer has the right to appeal any final commissioner’s decision, making his future on the field (and with the Dodgers) very unsettled even with Tuesday’s decision by the district attorney.
