Colorado woman arrested, suspected of intentionally hitting and killing a Westminster man with her car – Orange County Register

A 24-year-old Colorado woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder in what police believe was a run-and-go collision in Westminster on January 3, authorities announced Wednesday.

Saleena Isabelle Carra, from Colorado, was identified by Westminster Police detectives as a suspect in the hit-and-run attack in Walt Street’s 6500 block on January 3 killed 41-year-old Oscar Sandoval in Westminster. Westminster police are initially looking for the driver of the old-fashioned gray or black Jeep Grand Cherokee that crashed into Sandoval at his residence.

According to police, the hit and run was considered a homicide because Sandoval “intentionally hit the vehicle”.

The vehicle was heavily damaged, including the missing driver’s headlight housing, which was recovered at the scene.

On January 6, Westminster detectives contacted the Arvada Police Department, which located Carra at an area residence where she was being held. The suspect vehicle is also located at the Arvada mansion and is kept as evidence.

Carra was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of murder. She is awaiting extradition to California.

Westminster Police were unable to clarify on Wednesday night if there was any connection between Carra and Sandoval as the investigation is still ongoing.
