Preserving free choice in health care in California: Letters

“The state government of California does not have the authority to administer health care” (January 9):

While many politicians in California want to take control of health care, you’re right, among other things, to point out that their desire to build a railroad doesn’t mean they have to do the job. much more complicated. Nor is it possible to nationalize health care in just one state.

Anyone who leaves California, and there are many others among those who rely on politicians, will lose their insurance. Anyone moving to California will lose their insurance. Californians need the freedom to visit their doctors without politicians in the room. They cannot run the railway. They cannot run schools very well. They certainly cannot guide doctors to better medical care.

They need to stop trying to run every detail of our lives. We must preserve the freedom of medical care rather than replace it with another system of political spoils.

– Richard E. Ralston, executive director of Free Choice in American Medicine

Remember January 6

Re “Southern California Legislators Remember January 6” (January 6):

I can only speak from my own experience, but fear can be a huge motivator. Imagine the fear that people living in some major cities experienced last summer when riots were taking place just outside.

And imagine having to hide under your desk, in your office, fearing for your life, knowing that there are people right outside trying to harm you. Fear can be a great motivator. Hopefully that fear will drive more people to the ballot box by 2022. “When the government fears the people, there is freedom. When the people fear the government, tyranny is possible.” – Thomas Jefferson

– Vic Summers, Laguna Woods

FI $ Cal

Re: Computers Dropped After $1 Billion, 1 Decade” (January 7):

Reading that FI$Cal is finishing its job six years past the deadline made us wonder if we should put them in charge of the high-speed rail when they’ve finished their computer work.

The road to big government. One step closer to Soviet Russia every day.
