George McCaskey promises a ‘thorough, diligent and comprehensive’ search for GM and the next Bears coach after firing Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy

During an hour-long video conference, George McCaskey said he consulted with “several people” in NFL circles before making the decision and reached a conclusion Sunday night. He said Bears owner Virginia McCaskey, 99, has also been consulted as a member of the team’s board of directors.

“Everybody wanted to win one for her,” McCaskey said. “And we are doing everything we can to make that happen. At one point in our conversation, I asked her for her assessment of our season, and she said, as a mother can only, ‘I’m very, very disappointed. ‘
