Heat records were set in Southern California on Saturday; Cooldown coming – Orange County Register

According to weather experts, the heat hit Southern California on Saturday with record temperatures in some areas.

In the Inland Empire, Idyllwild broke records with a temperature of 75 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The previous record was 73 degrees in 1957. Riverside had a high of 88 degrees, tying a record high from 2016.

To the west, Santa Ana hit a similar record temperature of 91 degrees compared to 2015.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, the Woodland Hills hit 90 degrees on Saturday, matching the record set in 2016. LAX broke the record set in 1977 with a temperature of 89 degrees. The previous record was 88 degrees.

The unusually warm weather will continue through the weekend and begin to cool down from Monday, according to the NWS.
