Crean Lutheran, Mater Dei Selected for CIF-SS Open Division Men’s Basketball Qualifiers – Orange County Register
Crean Lutheran and Mater Dei were selected to the men’s basketball knockout round of the CIF Southern Section Open.
Eight teams were selected by a committee consisting of current and past CIF-SS coaches, school and district administrators, and members of the media.
Crean Lutheran (22-3) won the CIF-SS Division 2A championship last season. Mater Dei (25-2), as usual, in the Open Division last season. The Monarchs took a 1-2 lead in the finals format.
The defending Centennial of Corona Open champion is at the Open, along with Sierra Canyon, Harvard-Westlake, Damien, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks and Bishop Montgomery.
The knockout stages of the Men’s Basketball Open begin with a general format starting on Friday and continue on February 15 and February 18 with the finals on February 25.
Men’s basketball league tables for all divisions will be released at noon on Tuesday.
