“We made a foul,” explained San Juan Hills coach Paul Edwards. “Do we foul her to the three-point free throw line or do you let it play and defend the three points? A lot of things can go wrong if you mess them up. They take the first free throw and miss the second and get the rebound to get a quick shot. That opened up our logic. It didn’t work for us. ”
The momentum changed in the second extra time when Hameed paused the match to send Beckman into the second round.
“I had pictures taken in the morning,” says Hameed. “That’s really all. I know I can hit it. I had to take my time. My teammates put up a screen and I was able to take it down.”
Lily Sisson scored eight points with eight rebounds and five assists for San Juan Hills.
Muller scored 11 points with 13 rebounds and Miranda Yu added seven points for Beckman.
