Ball arena evacuated after fire ignites in trash area – CBS Denver
DENVER (CBS4)– The ball arena was evacuated during a concert on Thursday night after a fire broke out in the garbage area. The fire triggered the sprinkler system at the venue.
Several thousand people attending the concert were asked to leave the venue and led outside.
Copter4 flew over the Ball Arena and crowds left the venue. Police had closed part of the nearby roads during this time to allow fire engines and other emergency vehicles to get through.
The fire broke out in the garbage area behind the ball arena and triggered the fire extinguishing system including the sprinkler system around 18:10 on Thursday. The fire has been extinguished.
Nobody was injured. It was expected that the crowd would eventually be allowed to return to the venue where the concert would take place as planned. The delay was due to firefighting efforts.
