Buy some books, help Canyon Hills Library – Orange County Register

Friends of Canyon Hills Library members are inviting the community to browse through a wide selection of books that will be featured during the two-day Flash Winter Used Book Sale.

Proceeds from sales support the various ways that Friends enhances library programs and services for the community to enjoy. Some of these include increasing book and magazine collections, purchasing books for monthly book discussions, and new electronics, as well as helping to offset the costs of a variety of library programs. .

The sale will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on January 20 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 21 at the branch.

Meet the Women’s Club

The Anaheim Hills Women’s Club is extending invitations to all women in the community to attend the January 19 luncheon at the Clubhouse Restaurant at Anaheim Hills Golf Club.

The luncheon special, which begins at 11 a.m., will feature multi-talented singer/songwriters Darden Sisters, a Fullerton native known for their rich harmonies and sound influenced by Orange County with modern American elements.

Attendance costs $33 and anyone interested is encouraged to contact Karon Kelleher at 714-912-4907 to reserve seats or for more information about the organization.

The Anaheim Hills Women’s Club is a social organization that offers the opportunity to meet other women in the community.

Find out about health services for seniors

Seniors may find the Anaheim Library’s upcoming virtual presentation “Staying Healthy with Medicare Preventive Services” particularly informative and helpful.

The virtual event is scheduled for noon on January 24 and there is no cost to attend.

The webinar will provide details on the various preventive care services for seniors, covered by Medicare. Many people may not be aware of what is available. There are many preventive exams, immunizations, testing, screening, counseling and education that are, in many cases, provided free of charge.

This one-hour workshop will explain these benefits.

Talk books with other adults

The next East Regional Library Adult Book Discussion will be held at noon on January 20 and will be a hybrid event that participants can attend in person at the Canyon Hills Library. or via Zoom.

The book for the January discussion is “The Immortals” by Chloe Benjamin. The Friends of Canyon Hills Library purchased copies of this book and is available for inspection at the branch.

Make Anaheim Bright

Congratulations to the winners of the 2021 Anaheim Lights Competition which covers all six counties within Anaheim.

Contest winners in Anaheim Hills include the choice of Miss Anaheim Beautiful on North Symphony Street; 100% LED Display Award at Avenida Malaga; a Bright and Beautiful Award on Cedar Glen Road and a County Award on Willow Woods Road.

Other winning displays include: the 100% LED Screen award on Vintage Lane and the Bright and Beautiful Awards located on Lullaby Lane, Wihelmina Street and Strong Place. The County Awards are located at Westhaven Drive, Harriet Lane, Walnut Street, McCloud Street and Alice Street.
