After meeting on Mount Everest, the couple continued their wedding adventure

When the bride and groom, a mountaineer and mountaineer, meet on Mount Everest, you know the wedding is going to be epic.

Adrian Ballinger and Emily Harrington took their bodies to the extreme – he’s one of about 200 people to climb Everest without a tank, while she’s the first woman to free-climb the Gateway route El Capitan’s gold in a day – and they didn’t relax when planning their wedding. They decided to first hike to the summit of Cotopaxi, a 19,347-foot volcano in Ecuador, then slide down it, before getting married on the beach in Ayampe.

“Our lives are built a lot around love and commitment in the traditional relational way, but then there’s also adventure and how to support each other in adventure and how to make sure we always have great adventures together,” Ballinger told ABC News.

The couple expected maybe 12 people to attend their wedding in December, but 42 friends and relatives attended. Although many of their friends are adventure athletes, some say Cotopaxi is the highest mountain they have ever climbed, and after nine days of climbing together in difficult weather, we were attached,” Ballinger said. After their trip, marriage will become light.
