Descendants of Father Martin Luther King Jr will lead more than 100 civil rights groups in a march in Washington on Monday, a holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader, to urge Democrats to pass a bill extending protection of the right to vote, report Reuters.

Two key moderate Democrats, Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Joe Manchin (DW.V.), said they protest The rule changed, leaving Democrats without the votes they needed. Democrats say the legislation would oppose voting restrictions already in place in Republican-controlled state legislatures. Republicans opposed the bill, calling it a partisan takeover of power.
