Dozens of Southern California flights canceled due to East Coast hurricane – Orange County Register
On Monday, January 17, airlines announced the cancellation of dozens of flights connecting Southern California with the eastern United States, as a strong winter storm ravaged the North Atlantic region.
As many as 35 flights that were supposed to arrive at or depart from Los Angeles International Airport this week were grounded Monday night, according to the air traffic monitoring website Flight knowledge. Another 22 people to and from John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana were also called off.
Washington DC, New York, North Carolina, Illinois and Iowa are some of the expected destinations of canceled flights believed to depart from Southern California. Those areas are in the path of a winter storm that has covered some neighborhoods with more than a meter of snow and others with freezing rain on Monday.
