Tuesday’s Flyers-Hurricanes game postponed

The Flyers was set to open up a week with three games on the schedule on Tuesday night. It will start with the NHL’s lead in percentage points, the Carolina Hurricanes.

But as of Monday night, that game is now postponed. Due to the COVID incident affecting the Flyers, Tuesday’s game will be paused and a date has not been determined.

The Flyers played three games last week without Claude Giroux and Ivan Provorov and add Travis Konecny and Travis Sanheim on the COVID list on Wednesday after the final game of a four-game road trip in Anaheim. On Monday, Sanheim came back from COVID protocol, but Justin Braun entered protocol. It is still being determined on Monday afternoon if Giroux, Provorov and Konecny can clear the protocol before Tuesday’s game.

With Tuesday’s game postponed, that means either more positive tests were detected on Monday night or tests for Giroux, Provorov and Konecny are back and not allowed. allowing them to break out of protocol, thus making Flyers shorthand for another game.

This is the fifth Flyers game to be postponed this season. They postponed a game on November 30th due to the COVID issue affecting New York Islanders. That game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 18, and the game against the Detroit Red Wings, scheduled for the night of the same day, has been postponed. When the NHL halted the schedule for the holiday, two more games against the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins were also postponed.

This leaves the Flyers with four games that must be rescheduled, likely to take place during the original break for the Winter Olympics.

The Flyers are next scheduled to be on the ice on Thursday night to take on the Boston Bruins at 7pm
