The State of California does not have the authority to administer health care – Orange County Register
The California state government could not manage to competently distribute unemployment benefits.
What makes people think it should be trusted when it comes to running healthcare?
That’s the question Californians had to ask themselves when state legislators in Sacramento floated the idea of creating a single-payer health care system funded by a massive tax increase.
On January 5, a group of state lawmakers including Representative Ash Kalra, D-San Jose, introduced the 11th Constitutional Amendment to Congress, according to CalTax, a $163 billion tax increase.
“This measure will further increase the cost of living in California and result in job losses, without any assurance that the new $163 billion in taxes will benefit anyone,” said CalTax President. Robert Gutierrez said.
ACA 11 came into being a year after Kalra enacted Council Bill 1400, the so-called California Guaranteed Health Care Act.
“I look forward to hearing Democrats explain their plan to successfully take over more than 10 percent of the state’s economy as over the past decade they have proven themselves incapable of doing simple things like building build railways, provide clean drinking water, keep lights. and fill the potholes,” said Congressional Republican Leader Marie Waldron of Escondido.
It is certainly a partisan view, but Waldron’s skepticism is well-founded.
The State of California will view it as a far-reaching endeavor with a consistent track record of great success, transparency, and efficiency.
It’s another thing when the state can’t figure out the basics of state government.
Healthcare, obviously, is very important. It is often a matter of life and death.
Therefore, it is important for Sacramento to proceed with extreme care and consideration.
This is not the ban on plastic straws we are talking about.
Lawmakers will enjoy their press conferences and outrageous speeches on the issue. But they need to ask themselves whether the state is really prepared to take on such a noble task.
Anyone who’s seen Sacramento’s track record knows one thing for sure: this is a bridge too far.
