LA man gets six years in prison for deadly Orange County DUI crash – Orange County Register

SANTA ANA – A 23-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to six years in prison for the crime A drunk driving accident leaves a man dead in Orange.

Manuel Antonio Sanchez Contreras of Los Angeles pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter while intoxicated.

Contreras had a blood alcohol level of 0.15, nearly double the legal limit, at the time of the July 18 crash, according to court records.

Contreras was behind the wheel of a Honda Accord that crashed behind a Mazda Protege driven by Dean Lyles of Orange, 73, at West Sycamore Avenue and North Main Street, Sgt said. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department.

Contreras was driving north at high speed on Main Street at about 4:20 p.m. when it crashed into Lyles’ car, pushing it into El Camino Park, McMullin said.

Lyles, who was also heading north, was trying to turn left onto Sycamore Avenue when the crash occurred, McMullin said.
