The fire started around 6:20 p.m. at 1131 North Blue Gum Street. Anaheim Fire & Rescue spokesman Stephen Peña said the facility resembles a “giant” covered courtyard where the recycling and waste company will sort items in the trash.
The fire was no longer active by 8 p.m. and crews would continue to pour water over it into the evening, Peña said.
Peña said no other structures nearby were damaged and no injuries were reported.
He said the cause of the fire was still unknown. Peña said that fires at the facility are not uncommon due to the wide variety of items found in the trash.
The extent of damage caused by the fire is unknown at this time.
The fire was Anaheim’s second four-alarm response of the day following a massive fire and explosion at a suspected honey oil lab Pena said.
