Young Justice season 5 gets unfortunate update

DC’s Young Justice Animated series have had a turbulent history. The show, which first premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010, was canceled after its second season.

A wave of support from fans eventually took place Young Justice its third and then a fourth season, this time airing on the streaming platforms DC Universe and HBO Max.

The show has done reasonably well for streaming and has always been popular with viewers, but since Season 4 ended in June this year, only disappointment has followed. It was previously announced that no further episodes were ordered Young Justiceand now there’s additional confirmation of the sad fate of the hit series.

Christopher Jones, who does storyboarding for the series and art for DCs Young Justice Tie-in comic book, increased Twitter to share some unfortunate news about more possible seasons of the TV show. Jones also mentioned that there are no firm plans for future issues of the comic:

“I’m currently working on the final issue of Young Justice Targets and I’m hoping that with no current commitments to a fifth season of the TV show or more comics, this won’t be the final chapter in the Earth 16 saga. Thank you to everyone who supported the comic.”

The artist also noted that even if the series were renewed, a fifth season would still be a while away:

“Like everyone else, I would love to see the TV series renewed for Season 5 and beyond. But by tomorrow’s green light, new episodes are at least a year and a half away due to the realities of animation production.”

Jones was sure to encourage those who wanted to see more Young Justice to support the comic in the hope that this will generate tangible interest.

“So in the short term, more comics are the best option to tell more stories with these characters in this continuity. And after massive viewership, the best way to demonstrate demand for more TV shows would be continued interest in spin-off media like comics.”

And as a final statement, he doubled down on his request for fans to read the comic and keep watching reruns of the television series on HBO Max.

“So please continue to support the comic when the remaining issues come out and when the collected issue comes out next year. And #KeepBingingYJ. Never the end.”

Is there still hope for young justice?

Given the current state of Warner Bros., and by extension DC, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Young Justice was not renewed; the studio has been on a sort of cancellation tour lately.

The studio is in the midst of a transition due to a merger with Discovery. New CEO David Zaslav, meanwhile, is viewed as a Beilmann, canceling projects left and right to support Warner Bros.’ bottom line. These actions have led to films such as being regrettably abandoned bat girlwhose production was almost complete but will not be published.

So for a smaller project like e.g Young Justicehowever popular it may be, it will likely still be part of the carnage left behind by Zaslav and his new regime.

Nevertheless, there is hope that the comic book will at least continue with new installments depending on sales.
