Ye is reportedly canceling Coachella

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has dropped out of Coachella, leaving the festival weeks before it begins without a headlining slot, sources say TMZciting sources close to the performer.

It’s unclear why Ye allegedly abruptly canceled his performance. The festival, which will be held in Indio, California, is slated for later this month, April 15-17 and April 22-24.

Ye and Coachella officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and NBC News did not confirm TMZ’s report.

The news follows months of unpredictable behavior from Ye, who was widely criticized for his online presence during his divorce from estranged wife Kim Kardashian.

He was temporarily banned from Instagram for violating the company’s policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment after using racial slurs in a post about The Daily Show host Trevor Noah.

Ye also targeted Kardashian’s current boyfriend Pete Davidson online and posted one animated music video this appeared to depict a decapitated Davidson.

The rapper, who was nominated for five Grammys including best rap song for “Jail” and album of the year for “Donda,” was disqualified from the awards show “over online conduct,” his rep said.

Ye and fellow Coachella headliner Billie Eilish also fell out earlier this year over Eilish interrupting their Atlanta concert to help a fan get an inhaler, which he took as a diss to Travis Scott.

Scott was booked for a seat at Coachella this year, but festival organizers canceled his performance after 10 people died during a massive crowd at the Astroworld music festival.

Eilish didn’t mention Scott during her concert, but Ye threatened to cancel the festival if she didn’t apologize.

“PLEASE APOLOGIZE TO TRAVE AND THE FAMILIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES NO ONE INTENDED THIS,” Ye wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “TRAV WILL COME TO ME AT COACHELLA BUT NOW I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO BILLIE BEFORE I PERFORM.”

Scott, who was set to headline Coachella in 2020 before it was canceled due to Covid precautions, would join West on stage during his performance, TMZ reported.
