Woman-run Glasgow company launches ethical fashion division

MsMissMrs have already opened a spa and community kitchen in town and are now trying to create ethical fashion.

Based at Blochairn Market in Glasgow, Womanufacture will enable the team of three working mums, all involved in the MsMissMrs project, to design, manufacture and distribute the products, including the famous Empowerment Pants and Femfoods aprons. Spiked with empowerment, the proceeds from the sale will help support their ongoing community initiatives and create flexible employment opportunities for local women.

The production process, designed in-house by the Womanufacture team, uses only sustainable and ethical materials and produces as little waste as possible, with all waste generated being donated to local projects and ventures.

HeraldScotland:

Sylvia Douglas, Founding Director of MsMissMrs, said: “We now have our own space in the form of Womanufacture, which allows us to design, manufacture and distribute all of our products in-house, which in turn offers more opportunities for women and girls, we do strive to support.

“The team have carefully sourced materials from the UK and designed our products to have as little impact on the environment as possible. These products will help MsMissMrs continue our social cause of supporting and empowering young girls and women. We can’t wait to see where this will take us.”

Roisin Robinson, Womanufacture Design and Manufacturing Lead, added: “Over the past few months we have put so much thought and effort into getting to where we are now. It’s wonderful to see that our hard work is paying off and we’re already getting really positive feedback.

“As a team of working moms, it’s important to be able to work in a place that honors our lives outside of the workplace. We all take great pride in what we do, every Femfoods apron and pair of empowerment pants are made by us with love and dedication. This is just the beginning of Womanufacture and we can’t wait to make even more impact as we expand our range.”
