FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) – Since 2011, Sally Segerson has led Street Reach for the Homeless.
The self-organized program distributes food and much-needed clothing to the local homeless population, a task that becomes even more important in winter.
“I keep watching the 10-day forecast to see when we get the first week of overnight temperatures in the 30s,” Segerson said. “It puts heat pressure on people living in the elements.”
She said Sunday morning was the first day she gave out coats.
After handing out 28 coats at Freimannplatz on Sunday, she gave out a total of 55 coats by Thursday morning.
