When does the Europa League draw take place?


The 2021/22 Europa League quarter-finals and semi-finals will be determined in a single draw.

The eight remaining teams will figure out their possible route to the final, to be played on Wednesday 18 May at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville.

On a busy day of procedural events at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, the Europa League draw follows the Champions League version and precedes the determination of the final eight and final four Europa Conference League matches.

Many European heavyweights are hoping for continental success at the end of the competition.

When does the Europa League quarter-final and semi-final draw take place?

The procedure in Switzerland is scheduled to begin on Friday 18 March at 12.30pm GMT (1.30pm CET).

At this stage, the draw is opened with no seeding or country protection. There will be a free draw for the quarter-finals, with the resulting ties numbered from one to four for the subsequent semi-final draw. For administrative reasons, the “home” team for the final will also be determined.

The draw will take into account the eight teams progressing from their round of 16 matches. Among them is RB Leipzig, who received a bye after their match against Spartak Moscow was canceled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
