TikToker @scrunchyFi revealed the cash grab trick in a video while enjoying the Costa Rican sun.
Footage showed their apartment, which offered two small bedrooms, a bathroom, and a shared living area.
The US woman explained that she lives in the house with her family, but she used a simple trick when she wanted to rent it out for extra savings.
She said: “This is how I rented my house for a month while living in Costa Rica.
“My house is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom duplex, but I only rent one room.
“I have kept the nursery full of storage space.
“I just threw in all our personal belongings and the kids’ stuff and locked the door so guests couldn’t get in.
“And then they could use the rest of the house.
“So it’s possible to rent out your house even if you have kids and a few things – all you have to do is slide everything into one room and lock the door.”
The homeowner claimed she made £2,200 in the month she rented it out.
The video has more than 700 views, with other entrepreneurs admiring her hack.
“Damn awesome,” said one TikTok user.
“I can’t have anyone in my house,” added another.
