We are all works of art and must show our true colors – Orange County Register

There are so many songs about color. Songs that lift us up like “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and songs that make us think like “It’s Not Easy Being Green”.

“Purple Rain” and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” are completely different, but we could both sing along.

In our community center, the hallways are lined with beautiful artwork, paintings that show the uniqueness of talent, color and focus, splashes of pigment on a canvas, or realistic portraits of people and pets. Every artist has presented a picture of the world from his perception of life.

Bob Ross, famous for his TV show that teaches everyone to paint, said, “All it takes to paint is a few tools, a little guidance, and a vision in your head.”

That’s all we need to live a fulfilling life. One of the most important things in life is creativity. We know the future will hold love, fear, hope, despair, lasting relationships and some that don’t last; being with other people, being alone and all these experiences add color to our lives.

There is an infinite palette of colors within us, and every day we step onto the canvas with our tools. Our canvas, our expression of life, will be what we created it for.

Actor Danny Kaye said, “Life is a big screen; throw all the paint you can at it.”

From the song by Cyndi Lauper: “I see your true colors shining through, I see your true colors and that’s why I love you.” So don’t be afraid to let them show you your real face, real faces are beautiful.”
