Updated renderings of the new Allen County Jail released

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) The public can now see an updated version of what a new Allen County jail will look like.
The new depictions of the prison reflect concerns raised by people after the original plans for the prison, which will be located on a 142-acre site at 2911 Meyer Road, were released.
The prison, often cited as the county’s largest public works project, could cost up to $350 million and house more than 1,100 inmates. The new prison is the result of a federal lawsuit filed in January 2020 by the Indiana ACLU and inmates that drew attention to inhumane conditions and attributed those conditions to overcrowding and understaffing.
