‘Unique Opportunity’ to buy a hotel featured in an iconic children’s TV show in a quaint seaside town

A COLORFUL hotel that was featured in a legendary children’s TV show is on the market.
The MacDonald Arms Hotel on Main Street, Tobermory is up for sale for offers in excess of £350,000.
The property is situated on the stunning coast of the Isle of Mull and was featured in the popular children’s show Balamory, set in the island’s capital.
The preschool series, which aired on CBeebies between 2002 and 2005, featured characters wearing distinctive colors that matched their homes.
Agent Drysdale & Company has branded the property an “excellent opportunity” the herald reported.
The hotel has ten rooms as well as a lounge and bar.

However, the shop has been closed since the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020 and needs an upgrade.
The agent said: “The property offers a unique opportunity to acquire a sizeable waterfront townhouse on Tobermory Main Street.
“The owner has reviewed the development of the property to provide retail or commercial accommodation on the ground floor and rental accommodation or serviced apartments on the upper floors, subject to planning permission.
“Plans have been prepared for this proposed redevelopment and can be made available upon request.”
They added: “The MacDonald Arms Hotel has been in the same family for 56 years and Drysdale & Company are delighted to have been entrusted with the opportunity to bring the property to market.
“The hotel’s prominent location offers enormous potential for redevelopment before it is re-established in the city.
“An operator could redecorate and reopen the licensed accommodation on the ground floor, or it could be converted for other retail or commercial use.
“Owner’s or manager’s apartments are offered as well as former rental rooms on the first and second floor.”
It comes as Archie’s iconic pink castle in Balamory is available to rent for events.
Located just 18 miles east of Edinburgh near North Berwick, Fenton Tower has been immaculately restored to its 16th-century glory.
It now houses FIVE STAR accommodation for up to 13 guests.
The tower is surrounded by stunning countryside views, with 20 acres of private land and even a LOCH.
