Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a suspected annexe home at a site in the Killala area of Co Mayo.

Suspicious cannabis plants with an estimated value of 432,800 euros were seized during a search by gardaí on Friday evening.

The drugs seized will now be further analyzed by Forensic Science Ireland.

Gardaí said two men, one in their 30s and the other in their 20s, were arrested on Saturday at a Garda station in the west of the country under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The seizure is part of Operation Tara, an expanded national anti-drug strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris last July.
