Twitter users under investigation for PAS Youth’s connection to a terrorist group

PETALING JAYA: PAS Youth has filed a police report against a Twitter account linking the political party to the international terror group Islamic State (IS) or Daesh.

PAS youth leader Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (Picture) said the report was filed at Selayang Police Station today (March 7) by Gombak PAS youth activist Mohamad Suffi Kamari, NST reported.

“The Twitter user by the name of Pak Arman Amin had clearly accused the PAS of having ties to terrorist movements.

“PAS is a party incorporated under Malaysian Government Law, registered with the Registrar of Societies and we operate legally.

“There is no need to link the PAS to any international terrorist movement,” Ahmad Fadhli said at a press conference in the parliamentary lobby today.

The Pasir Mas MP had called on the police to immediately investigate and prosecute the perpetrators involved in publishing the now-deleted post on Twitter.

Ahmad Fadhli added that the post was not only defamatory but could also damage relations between citizens of many races and religions and democratic freedom.

“Based on this person’s Twitter story, he was very ‘istiqomah’ (steadfast) when attacking PAS. We support democracy, but do not smear it.

“Authorities are quickly investigating TikTokers who are promoting Perikatan Nasional, why aren’t they taking action against people making clear allegations linking PAS to IS?” he said.

The inflammatory Twitter post was posted on March 5 by user @armanamin330 and read: “Lately the PAS has had a parade of swords. Looks like a revival of Islamic State by Daesh. PAS is truly despicable.” (Baru baru ni PAS buat perarakan angkat pedang. Rupanya ia kebangkitan Islamic State oleh Daesh. Memang PAS ni celaka)

In another tweet after the controversial one, the user also said that many PAS members allegedly supported Daesh.
