FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — Though the COVID-19 pandemic can be seen in its rearview mirror, the Turnstone Center is still feeling the effects of it.
Turnstone is currently recruiting volunteers for the holiday season and beyond and hopes to see volunteer numbers return to pre-pandemic levels.
The organization says it has not been able to meet volunteer requirements for an event it hosts since the pandemic began.
“Following the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteer roles have become more difficult to fill,” said Mike Mushett, Turnstone CEO. “We know that many of our partner organizations are facing the same challenge and we all hope that we can turn the tide.”
Volunteer opportunities range from concessions and scorers for sporting events to program assistants and fundraisers.
Turnstone also offers many opportunities for high school students who want to collect school credit or learn more about their community.
“We are extremely grateful for everyone who joins us to serve our community,” Mushett said.
