Tsitsipas qualifies for ATP Finals; joins Nadal, Alcaraz and Ruud

London, 09/30 (IANS) Stefanos Tsitsipas has become the fourth men’s singles player to meet all requirements for the ATP Finals, joining Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud for the season finals, which will be played for the second straight year at the Pala Alpitour in Turin from November 13th to 20th.

The 24-year-old secured his spot on Friday for other games. Four spots remain in the singles field of year-end titles.


It will be Tsitsipas’ fourth straight appearance at the ATP Finals. He won the ATP Finals prize in 2019 when he prevailed at The O2 in London. In that publication, he smashed Dominic Thiem for the award.

The Greek star has participated in a stable 2022 season. Tsitsipas made a quick start in Australia where he advanced to the Australian Open elimination rounds. Only fourteen days later the Athenian finally arrived in Rotterdam.

Tsitsipas made his biggest jump of the year at the Monte-Carlo Experts, where he effectively defended his title to guarantee his eventual ATP Bosses 1000 award. He continued to thrive at this level, coming to title matches in Rome and Cincinnati, in addition to winning an ATP 250 award in Mallorca.

The 24-year-old has won 49 games this season and finished second to world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz (52) in the ATP visit.
