Once upon a time, Hurricane Julia weakened to a tropical storm with peak winds of 85 mph on its Nicaragua landfall near Laguna de Perlas as it crossed Nicaragua and is expected to weaken further to a tropical depression when he goes from Nicaragua along the Pacific coast of Central America to Guatemala. Heavy rains of more than 12 to 15 inches will cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides in affected parts of Central America through Tuesday.
