Trial of man charged with murder of Ashling Murphy set to resume in June – The Irish Times

The trial of a 32-year-old man accused of murdering schoolteacher Ashling Murphy in Co Offaly last year is set to resume in June, the Central Criminal Court has heard.
Jozef Puska, with an address listed as Lynally Grove, Mucklagh, Co Offaly, is accused of murdering the 23-year-old primary school teacher in Cappincur, Tullamore on 12 January 2022.
Ms Murphy was fatally attacked while jogging along a stretch of the Grand Canal just outside Tullamore known as Fiona’s Way in memory of missing wife Fiona Pender.
Mr Puska is due to appear before the Central Criminal Court on June 6 in a case expected to last up to four weeks.
Judge Paul McDermott adjourned the matter until March 31, when there will be an update on the case’s progress.
Ms Murphy, a talented Irish traditional musician and a graduate of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, was working as a teacher at Durrow National School at the time of her death.
