HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — Beginning October 10, travelers departing from George Bush Intercontinental will face temporary lane closures for necessary utility work.
The video above is from a previous report.
Due to the current phase of construction of the new international terminal, CenterPoint Energy will relocate and install critical infrastructure to power Terminal D; a new baggage screening facility and a tram system between terminals.
The closures will be along North Terminal Road, which leads to Terminals C, D and E. The lanes will be closed for about four weeks.
This is said to significantly affect traffic congestion, especially around the afternoon rush hour between 5pm and 8pm
For the safety and passenger experience, there will be active traffic surveillance and curb management, as well as additional on-site officers as part of traffic control.
Houston Airports encourages travelers to prepare for their trip to Bush Airport by planning and utilizing resources such as garage parking reservations. Those picking up an arriving passenger are advised to wait in the designated cell phone parking lot until the passenger is curbside.

The Bush construction is part of the IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program. The airport, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, will be home to the USA’s newest and most modern international terminals.
