Tom Hiddleston has reportedly announced his next post.Loki season one role, with diversity reporting that the British star will appear in a new Apple TV+ series entitled The white darkness. The White Darkness in question, amazingly, isn’t one of the hundreds of jokes that immediately welcomed the announcement Series name online; it’s actually a reference to Antarctica, the least crappy frontier on the planet. Hiddleston will star in the series as Henry Worsley, an adventurous retired British soldier who decided that in 2016 he wanted to cross Antarctica on foot, after a number of previous successful expeditionsand their Wikipedia page you should probably just go ahead and stay away if you don’t want to be spoiled on how this special trip ends.
Hugh adapts the miniseries from Daniel Grann’s non-fiction book of the same name. Hugh – whose previous projects include The whisper and The Terror– is currently in the midst of Apple’s release pachinko, a stirring epic that explores the life of a Korean family in the turbulent mid-20th century. As for Hiddleston – still committeded to a second season of Loki, in addition to any other Marvel commitments he’s got on his plate — all of that feels pretty familiar at this point. He made one habit for a few years— going back to his Emmy-nominated turn The night manager– break up his larger genre franchise work with more focused, limited ones –TV projects include. (This is actually his second Apple series this year; The Essex Serpentwith Claire Danes, out next month.) And it’s hard to deny acting Allure of Worsley’s story: one man against a continent, driven by nothing but his own determination to keep going? That’s the good, heroic stuff right there, the kind of inspirational story that can engage viewers of all ages and faiths, as long as they stay the fuck away again this Wikipedia page.
