“There’s No Place Like Tampa”: Tampa Bay in Florida welcomes the entire city of Tampa, Kansas

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – From one Tampa to another, Tampa Bay welcomes the entire city of Tampa, Kansas to experience Florida life.
With the help of Visit Tampa Bay and Southwest Airlines, all 100 residents of the city were invited. On Monday, 95 of the residents landed in sunny Florida.
Upon arrival, the city’s guests were greeted at Tampa International Airport with several signs, one of which read “There’s No Place Like Tampa,” a nod to the legendary film The Wizard of Oz, which is set in Kansas.
According to a press release, the small rural Kansas town has just 24 stores, including a fitness center, a hair salon, a few restaurants and a hardware center.

The airport announced this on its Twitter page that Kansas residents will spend their week exploring the city of Florida.
Tampa roommates will indulge in activities that include trips to the zoo, aquarium, history and arts centers; Dining at Tampa’s finest restaurants and of course, strolling along the Tampa Riverwalk.
