While speaking to fans ahead of the release of his music video “Out of Time” (out Tuesday), the singer tweeted, “You guys are hilarious. I feel like I should change my stage name to ABEL at this point lol.” He then followed up his tweet by saying that he “maybe pull a YE and just legally change my name to ABEL. no last name. For what it’s worth, The Weeknd appears to have the support of his fans should he make the switch. John Legend, who was preparing to head to the 2022 Grammy Awards on Sunday night, took a moment to give the singer his seal of approval, writing “ABEL is dope” as the Twilight FM The artist asked fans if he should call it “ABEL, officially known as The Weeknd.”
The Weeknd, whose birth name is Abel Tesfaye, spent the afternoon tweeting as he busted out at the 2022 Grammy Awards, where he was nominated for Kanye West’s “Hurricane” with Lil Baby and won in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category became.
