While the characters Tommy (Cillian Murphy) and Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) have been confirmed for the upcoming film, the rest of the cast has yet to be confirmed.

Now in an interview with esquireKnight said the new characters in season six, which is currently airing on BBC One and is due out on Netflix in June, will help shape the direction of the film.

He said: “In series six we’re bringing in the new generation and they’re going to be a part of what’s happening [the] Movie. I think it’s about finding those actors that you just look at and think, there you go. There is the future.

“The film, I know exactly what it’s about. And I know what two stories it will tell. I don’t know how the story will develop. What happens after that should depend on the film.”

He then cryptically added, “For all we know, someone’s going to pop out — I think I know who it’s going to be.”

Previously narrated by the director of the sixth series, Anthony Byrne Digital Spy that Knight wanted to do a spin-off series with the younger cast.

Meanwhile, Bryne has recently responded to some criticism of the final season.

While the season has been praised by critics and fans alike, some have criticized the show’s pacing and its lack of action compared to previous seasons.

Warning: Major spoilers for the upcoming sixth season

told Byrne radio times that he has “no problem” with criticism, but added: “You can’t continue to give people what they expect.”

He continued, “You take a show like top that’s culturally relevant, it’s a TV phenomenon, and there’s an expectation of, ‘I want Arthur to kick the shit out of people and I want Tommy to be Tommy and more top Stuff.’

“Season four was that. Season four was a gangster season with the Italians and the Peakys. There was a lot of gang stuff and guns and all that. And then season five was about the rise of fascism and it was darker.

“Season Six is a character play about the darkness of Tommy Shelby’s soul and how far down he has to go before he comes out. And will there be anything left of him? That’s it for me And viewers who love the character will join in because they’re on a journey with this guy, with Tommy Shelby.

“There will always be some people who want exactly the same thing, but we’re not there for that because it needs to evolve and change. And it needs to challenge audience expectations and take you on a much deeper experience than you expect.”

NMEs Four star rating from Peaky Blinders Season six said, “Impressively, there’s nothing about the return of Peaky Blinders that feels forced, contrived – and that wasn’t always the case in the previous five series.

“The much-anticipated finale of 2022 may only be an hour away, but our start is as impressive as any of Tommy’s precious mares.”
