New street signs in front of Mission San Juan Capistrano now reflect the historic site, helping visitors find it.
“Old Mission Road” now reads the street signs on the portion of the Ortega Highway between Del Obispo Street and the Camino Capistrano.

San Juan Capistrano Mayor Derek Reeve pitched the idea of the name change earlier this year, noting at a January meeting that many visitors come to town looking for the mission and it might be helpful to find one Having a street name indicative of the location.
Several names were considered, but city guides ultimately settled on Old Mission Road, suggested by Mission Executive Director Mechelle Lawrence Adams.
