Russian doll Season Two: What a concept!

The exciting Netflix dramedy premiered in February 2019 – so in the Bbefore Ttime – and there qquickly became one of the streaming platform’s Best Originals and received an Outstanding Comedy nomination at the Emmys. After a long threesome year wait Russian doll will be back for more later this month time travel shenaniganspossible catchy memes (yes, like “Thursday what a concept)” and hopefully Natasha Lyonne says “cockroaches” yet again.

The first season follows Nadia Vulvokov (Lyonne) who is stuck in a time warp on her 36th birthday. She dies repeatedly, only to find herself at a certain moment of her party while Harry Nillson’s “Gotta Get Up” is playing. Like it or not, the song will stick in your mind after watching the show. Nadia tries to figure out what’s happening to her and meets Alan Zaveri (Charlie Barnett), who is stuck in his own time warp hell.

As seen in the Trailer for the second season, Nadia and Alan couldn’t escape the chaos. In fact, they find themselves once again at the mercy of time. But they don’t repeat themselves in the same day. It looks like both of them are taking the train straight into the past – more specifically into their family’s past. Nadia takes the 6 train in 2022 to wake up in 80’s New York. In the 1960s Alan clearly fell even further back to Germany (whoops). “Maybe we still have unfinished business,” Nadia muses, also revealing that she “broke time.”

The trailer also reveals that Nadia’s best friend Maxine (Greta Lee) will be much more involved in her adventures this time around. Chloë Sevigny plays Nadia’s mother, Lenora. Will they maybe meet in the 80s?

Russian doll was created by Lyonne, Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler. The cast includes Elizabeth Ashley, Rebecca Henderson and Brendan Saxton III. Schott’s Creek and Kevin can fuck himself‘s Annie Murphy joins the cast.

All seven episodes of the second season will be released on April 20th.
