The missing Humble mother has been confirmed dead in the car. The 17-year-old son was found after a police chase in Nebraska

HUMBLE, TX (KTRK)– A body found in a trunk has been identified as a 49-year-old humble mother and her 17-year-old son, who was driving the car she was found in, was arrested.

Tyler Roenz and his mother, Michelle Roenz, were reported missing by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. Deputies learned that the car they were in was traveling in Nebraska.

According to the Nebraska State Police, they discovered the car less than 15 minutes after being warned that the vehicle was involved in a homicide.

Tyler, who was behind the wheel, led police on a high-speed chase before crashing the car into a ditch, according to police. A body identified as his mother was found in the trunk.

“I was surprised because I didn’t know the Tyler I knew would end up doing something crazy like that,” a former classmate told ABC13.

The classmate, who wishes to remain anonymous, also worked with Tyler at a movie theater.

“When I started working there, they told me to be careful with him, but they didn’t say why,” she said.

According to court documents, Tyler was charged with attempted sexual assault in early 2022 and was on $10,000 bail. He is accused of assaulting an 18-year-old girl in his car, ripping her shirt off and grabbing her in a school parking lot.

Another student who spoke to ABC13 said that Tyler was a junior at Humble ISD before abruptly leaving in 2021.

“Everybody talked about him as a cross-country star. He was really cute,” said the classmate.

Both students are trying to understand how the former track and field star they say is involved in something like this.

Tyler is in a Nebraska hospital after the accident. The Nebraska State Patrol is working with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to coordinate extradition once he is released from the hospital.
