The ministry is working on solving the issue of termination of the work visit pass

IPOH: The Ministry of Human Resources is trying to solve the cessation of hiring foreign workers using the Visit Pass for Temporary Employment (PLKS) for textile shops, barber shops and goldsmiths.

His minister V. Sivakumar said he had held talks with Interior Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub and appealed on the matter last week.

“Since January, several organizations and business associations (textiles, hairdressers and goldsmiths) have come to me and demanded that the dismissal be withdrawn.

“Therefore, I hope that due consideration will be given and a positive decision will be made immediately after the application is submitted to the two relevant ministers,” he told reporters today after opening the 2nd International Tamil Classical Music Conference 2023 here today.

He was responding to an immigration service circular dated February 28, which said employers in the three sub-sectors will no longer be allowed to renew PLKS permits for their employees from March 15, 2023.

It is estimated that these three sub-sectors need 15,000 foreign workers to ensure business continuity. -Bernama
