The Harris County District 6 Police Officer’s Office fires the lieutenant on a child sexual assault investigation

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) — An investigation is underway after the lieutenant of a former Harris County District 6 police officer was accused of sexually assaulting a child.
The former Lt. Paul Fernandez was not charged but was fired from his position based on the allegations, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigating the allegations told Eyewitness News.
According to the police officer’s office, Fernandez joined Precinct 6 as a reserve officer in January 2013 while working full-time at the Houston ISD, where he served for over 10 years.
In January 2017, Fernandez was appointed administrative sergeant in charge of overseeing internal affairs and was promoted to administrative lieutenant in June 2022.
Fernandez was responsible for overseeing Internal Affairs investigations and helping establish policies and procedures.
