The funeral for the KDPS officer who died of cancer was held on Friday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Greater Kalamazoo and surrounding communities are gathering to celebrate the life of a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety official who died earlier this month. Christian Smith died on October 8 after a battle with leukemia. The 32-year-old served with the KDPS for six years as a police officer, firefighter, field training officer, K-9 unit and narcotics officer.
