The Fort Wayne Fire Department maintains a memorial in honor of fallen firefighters

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Fire Department held a memorial service Saturday to honor firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Families and close friends of the fallen also attended the memorial to mourn and honor their friends and loved ones.

“We hold this event so we don’t forget the brothers and sisters who lost their lives,” said Philip Wyss, a trustee of Fort Wayne Firefighters Local 124, which is affiliated with the International Association of Firefighters.

The memorial service was held this morning at the Allen County Law Enforcement/Firefighters Memorial at 1001 N. Wells St.
