I have many complaints with Hollywood. For starters, I think the nice folks behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe could afford a longer vacation. It would also be cool if someone with an Oscar in the bathroom and allegations of sexual assault, harassment and abusive behavior in the basement couldn’t continue to cash in. And hey, as someone who’s never thought, “I need a female-led pirate movie,” I say, it sucks that Disney won’t let Margot Robbie make one.

“We had an idea ages ago, and we developed it for a while to have been more woman-led — not entirely woman-led, just a different kind of story — which we thought would have been really cool, but.” I guess they don’t want it,” Robbie revealed in a new one vanity fair Profile.

since 2020, rumours have twirled about a Pirates of the Caribbean Spin-off directed by Robbie and her birds of prey Writer Christina Hodson, with women at the bow of the ship. Plot details have never been confirmed, but Disney was reportedly involved with the project … until recently, apparently.

If you’re thinking “classic Disney” now, you’re right. To be clear, a different pirates spin off The work remains to produce with Jerry Bruckheimer. In May 2022, Bruckheimer announced this Sunday times He worked on two screenplays, one with Robbie and the other without. Without the award-winning actress, of course and producer won.

The cursed franchise, which once starred alleged abuser Johnny Depp, was a box office hit until its demise last episode, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Taleswhich premiered shortly after Depp and his then-wife Amber Heard, done her divorce and domestic abuse case.

Since then, it has been rumored that Depp would do it repetition his role as few’s favorite drunken sailor. His representative said NBC that the news was “made up,” and Bruckheimer simply said, “The future has yet to be decided” when asked about future spin-offs with Depp. Would I be at all surprised if Disney gave Jack Sparrow yet another redemption arc after denying Robbie her woman-led wife pirates Movie? nope! I do, a person who in any other scenario might ultimately care less if any pirate movie ever made again, hope robbie can find smoother, less troublesome seas with another studio? Yes, captain! The female-led Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off is “dead” thanks to Disney.
