His first shot was saved by the Brazil keeper, but it bounced off Havertz and rolled into the net.

Everyone around Stamford Bridge initially thought it was a legitimate goal as Havertz ran to the corner to celebrate with his Chelsea team-mates.

However, replays immediately showed that the ball had been rotated by his arm.

It was quickly rejected by VAR as home fans were desperate.

And those who took to social media to criticize Havertz were quick to celebrate for his decision as he put the ball in with his arm.

One said: “Havertz is so shameless to celebrate.”

Another replied: “How did Havertz celebrate when he knew it was handball 😭😭.”

A third added: “Havertz’s cheekiness to celebrate that goal because he knew he made it 😭😭😭.”

And a fourth replied: “Lmao why did Havertz even bother to party there? Absolute clown.”

The disallowed goal denied Havertz a third in four Premier League games.

And his overall record for the season remains somewhat unimpressive – nine out of 37 appearances.

Chelsea continue to struggle for goals, having scored just 29 goals in the league – fewer than the likes of Leeds and Leicester.
