SHAKIRA was caught giving a tearful goodbye to her life in Spain as she jetted to Miami with her sons following the high-profile split from ex Gerard Pique.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer, 46, left Barcelona today ahead of her permanent move to Florida as alleged family and friends waved them off during an emotional farewell.

Spanish media described the scenes as her “final goodbye” to her old life before beginning her new American life.

Despite tears in her eyes, Shakira looked effortlessly stylish in a denim outfit as she and her two sons, Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, headed to the departure gate.

That evening she wrote a heartfelt Twitter post: “I settled in Barcelona to give stability to my children who we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea.

“Today we begin a new chapter in our search for happiness.”

The pop star was due to relocate with her two sons, Milan, 10, and Sasha, 7, on January 3, but their trip was postponed after their elderly father’s deteriorating health.

News of her departure comes as her footballer ex Pique was reportedly “very upset” after being told just “days in advance” that his former partner will be moving to Miami with their two sons this week.

Shakira’s attorney, Pilar Mane, informed Pique’s attorney, Ramon Tamborero, in a formal announcement that the star was leaving for good, according to journalists Lorena Vasquez and Laura Fa.

The Colombian singer, they said, then called the former Barcelona player to confirm the news, but he is said to have been furious at being kept in the dark about the exact date they would be leaving.

The Spanish journalists also claim that the two boys would start school in Florida on April 11 – the day US schoolchildren return to classes after spring break.

The 11-year-old ex-couple have been embroiled in a bitter argument since their high-profile split last summer.

Former Barcelona defender Piqué revealed he was dating 24-year-old Clara Chia Marti shortly after they announced their breakup with the bombshell.

Since then, her dirty laundry has been broadcast around the world, while cheating rumors about Pique and his younger lover have been swirling since the New Year.

The former couple confirmed in November that they had finally reached a custody agreement after lengthy negotiations that culminated in a marathon 12-hour meeting with their lawyers.

They signed the agreement in a Barcelona court the following month.

As part of the deal, retired footballer Pique will be spending the holidays with his children.

Shakira’s desire to move to Miami, where she used to live and where part of her family resides, appeared to be the main sticking point in their bitter custody battle.

The singer-songwriter, who has relatives and several close friends in Miami, owns a £14million mansion in the city which she is said to have put up for sale in 2018 before taking it off the market a few months ago.

Spanish media also claim that Shakira got used to a new mystery man living in Miami.
