Suspect barricaded in Costa Mesa building, some residents urged to protect themselves on site – Orange County Register

Police urged some residents of Costa Mesa’s west side to take shelter Wednesday, October 5, after a suspect, who may be armed, barricaded himself in a building along Monrovia Avenue.
According to Roxi Fyad, a spokeswoman for the Costa Mesa Police Department, the barricade began around noon at the 1700 block of Monrovia Avenue after police assisted the Justice Department in serving a search warrant. The suspect was believed to be armed.
It was not immediately known who or what the search warrant was for.
As of 1 p.m., the situation was ongoing and no casualties were reported.
