Surprise guests The Vandals pay tribute to late Dead Kennedys drummer – Orange County Register

The second annual Punk in the Park Craft Beer and Music Festival kicked off at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado on Saturday, November 5, and thousands of fans turned up right when the gates opened for a day of fun at the sold-out to experience the show.

There was definitely something about that fresh canyon air and a palpable sense of camaraderie and good times. Regulars rushed in to begin tasting craft beers from dozens of local and regional breweries, posed for photos in front of various on-site photo ops and installations, and rushed to the stages to catch the early bands.

Saturday programming included sets from Bad Religion, Face to Face, The Adolescents, 7 Seconds, Manic Hispanic, Subhumans, The Bronx, The Flatliners, The Briefs, Love Canal, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Suzi Moon, TV Party and Slaughterhouse .

Punk icons Dead Kennedys also performed, but the band broke up after the death of drummer Darren Henley, known professionally as DH Peligro. The band announced on their social media pages on October 29 that Peligro died from head trauma caused by an accidental fall at his Los Angeles home on October 28.

Festival organizers announced that a special guest would be taking Dead Kennedy’s place, and fans went wild when Orange County punks The Vandals showed up. The boys performed fan-favorite songs including “I’ve Got an Ape Drape”, “I Have a Date”, “Anarchy Burger”, “My Girlfriend’s Dead” and shamelessly performed their 27th Annual Formal Christmas Show at the House of Blues Anaheim December 23 by singing their holiday song “Oi to the World!”
